Real Estate Photography Pitfalls

We’ve all seen poor real estate photography. Here are some of the most common mistakes made in real estate listing photos:

• Poor lighting: either the view through the window is washed out or the interior is too dark.

• Camera not level: picture is tilted left or right, up or down, making it appear that the building is leaning sideways or falling over backward.

• Color not corrected: picture has a strange color cast.

• Lens not wide enough: picture shows very little of the room.

Some of these mistakes are easy to avoid with a little knowledge, but others require high-quality equipment to take the pictures and considerable time in post-processing. The editing time can easily take longer than the photography itself. For these reasons and others, many realtors are choosing to hire a professional photographer to take care of their listing photos.
